Four months away from their third fight with Manny Pacquiao, and Team Juan Manuel Marquez is looking to put together their sparring partners for the lightweight champion.
From his Romanza Gym in Mexico City, Hall of Fame trainer Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain discussed Marquez's preparations for the November showdown.
A key member of the sparring team could be Antonio Fernandez, a featherweight from Panaman.
"We are going to try and bring over Fernandez," said Beristain. "I hope he is in good conditions, because he likes to drink at times. The truth is he helped us a lot in preparing for the previous two fights with Manny Pacquiao."
Though earlier comments from Beristain pointed to a belief that this fight might be easier than the other two for Marquez, the legendary trainer has changed his thoughts.
"He has to improve much, much more," said Beristain. "More than anything Juan needs to get back the speed he had a few years back, and be flexible enough to dodge Pacquiao's punches."
As for Marquez, he is enjoying a vacation with his family before returning to Mexico City to being the hard road to Manny Pacquiao.
